Advance Turning Hosts Students on National Manufacturing Day

Advance Turning and Manufacturing participated in the 2017 National Manufacturing Day by hosting students and conducting tours of our facility.  In Jackson County, Michigan, The Enterprise Group organized a day-long celebration of Manufacturing in Jackson.  Area students and teachers spent the day touring several of the Jackson area’s leading manufacturers, including Advance Turning.

Manufacturing Day, celebrated throughout the United States,  is designed to show students, parents, educators, and their communities, what is really happening in modern manufacturing.

In Jackson County, twelve manufacturing businesses provided tours of their facilities for 500 students from Jackson Public Schools, Hanover Horton Schools and Concord Schools.

The Enterprise Group has received positive feedback regarding the students’ participation during the tours and their interaction with hosts.  At Advance Turning, students were given a short presentation about our company, followed by tours throughout our manufacturing facility on Morrill Road.  Students were exposed to every area of operations; including design, set-up, various manufacturing stations, quality control and testing.  Following the tour, students received mementos of their visit.

Students also learned about opportunities at Advance Turning and the various training and educational paths offered by the company.

Gov. Rick Snyder proclaimed Oct. 1-7 Michigan Manufacturing Week, encouraging residents to reflect on the road Michigan has traveled as a manufacturing state and the bright future that lies ahead.

Almost 200 events around the state showcased modern manufacturing, the products created here in Michigan and career opportunities existing now and into the future.
