Director of Supply Chain (Jackson, MI)

Director of Supply Chain

  • Qualifications:

    Education: High school or equivalent. Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred.

    Primary Work location: Jackson, Michigan


    • Manages and oversees the purchasing and materials team at all facilities.
    • Negotiates with suppliers for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
    • Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensures compliance.
    • Develops new supply sources where suppliers are inadequate.
    • Represents company at supplier location for issue resolution.
    • Examines quotes and chooses best option for the company.
    • Works closely with the Quality Department to ensure suppliers compliance with all quality standards.
    • Assures Purchase Order accuracy.
    • Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders.
    • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
    • Develops and coordinates new policies and procedures regarding procurement processes.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
    • Oversees cycle counting and inventory accuracy.

    Specific Knowledge, skills, licenses, certifications:

    • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
    • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 & ISO 13485
    • Solid understanding of Approved Supplier List (ASL)
    • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Extensive knowledge and ability to negotiate best supplier terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
    • Complete knowledge of all related skill area machines and equipment.
    • Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
    • Solid decision-making and negotiating skills.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
    • Commitment to assist others in learning new skills and processes.
    • Ability to perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes necessary for growth.
    • Willingness to develop innovative ideas and incorporate them effectively into work processes. Work with others to incorporate these positive ideas into daily practice. Assist others in implementing their ideas and makes recommendations for further improvements.

    • Ability to identify multiple projects and prioritize them to meet required deadlines.


    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and experience with ERP systems
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to perform in high stress environment with great attention to detail.
    • Certified Purchasing Professional with APICS certification preferred.
    • Some travel required.
